3D Digitization and Metrology 4.0 in the offshore wind energy sector
Renovables

Baltic Eagle, described by Iberdrola as its second major offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea, is an installation designed to supply renewable energy to 475,000 households through 50 wind turbines.

Thanks to our extensive professional and multisectoral experience, at Dogram we are immensely proud that Iberdrola has entrusted us with leading the metrology advisory services for the manufacturing of the components that make up the wind farm’s fixed foundations, manufactured at two production facilities located in Spain and Germany.

This international project was launched in 2022, and we have worked closely with the Iberdrola Deutschland engineering team to ensure the project’s metrological quality management. It was crucial for the procedures to meet the scale and tolerances required by the project. This involved a thorough review of reports and measurement methodologies, audits of the manufacturers, and comparative measurements to verify the enormous fixed foundations used in the construction of this wind farm.

Once the manufactured components had been verified, the next phase consisted of carrying out on-site inspections during the installation of the wind turbine foundations. During this stage, we continued to ensure the correct geometry of the components once they had been installed in the Baltic Sea.

This journey does not end here. We continue to learn, grow and remain committed to contributing to the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy model.
