Dogram is an engineering company specializing in dimensional inspection, 3D digitization, metrology and reverse engineering projects. The company works across a range of industries, including nuclear energy, oil & gas and renewable energy, and has been relying for years on PolyWorks Europa, a subsidiary of InnovMetric, and its PolyWorks|Inspector™ software.
Founded in 2013, Dogram initially focused on meeting the needs of domestic customers. Today, however, the company also supports Spanish companies with their international projects, as well as European technology centres. “After years of intensive work, we now collaborate closely with leading companies such as Cepsa, Van Oord, Idom, Empresarios Agrupados, TSK, Asturfeito and Repsol,” explains Carlota Abello, co-founder and Business Development Manager at Dogram.
Dogram’s customer base is very diverse, ranging from small workshops — essentially, any manufacturer of industrial equipment and goods — to medium-sized engineering firms and large industrial facilities.
The differentiating factor
There are currently other engineering companies operating in a similar field to Dogram. However, the company has always differentiated itself from its competitors by offering high added value. “Our customers value our availability and technical expertise, our personalized approach, and the fact that we work side by side with them throughout the entire project, from start to finish,” says Abello.
“It is common for us to become integrated into our customers’ quality and dimensional inspection departments, working together to add value to their production processes by combining the experience and expertise of both parties,” adds Rocío Cachero, co-founder and Project Manager, who has extensive experience in metrology and 3D digitization.
“Part of the success we are experiencing today is thanks to InnovMetric’s PolyWorks software. For example, its visualization and reporting tools provide us with a common language that facilitates the management of engineering and industrial manufacturing projects,” she explains.
PolyWorks, the perfect partner
Among its various solutions, Canadian company InnovMetric develops PolyWorks|Inspector™, a universal 3D dimensional analysis and quality inspection software solution. It enables users to inspect the dimensions of tools or components using portable metrology devices and CNC CMMs, diagnose and prevent manufacturing and assembly problems, guide assembly operations through real-time measurements, and monitor the quality of assembled products.
InnovMetric has 16 subsidiaries worldwide, including PolyWorks Europa España, which provides technical support to users and distributors in their local language and during local business hours.
“PolyWorks|Inspector™ is universal dimensional inspection software, meaning that it can be connected to virtually any measurement equipment. Dogram, for example, uses different pieces of equipment from different manufacturers, with different capabilities, but they can all be used with the same license,” explains Tania Arellano, Account Manager at PolyWorks Europa España.
“Our software is highly useful and easy to operate, and it is backed by a technical support team that is fully committed to meeting the needs of our users,” Arellano adds.
In this regard, Rocío Cachero emphasizes: “I would highlight the technical team, which responds very quickly and has extensive experience and a high degree of specialization in dimensional inspection. They don't just provide a quick response; they provide a well-founded one. The support is exceptional. We use several software solutions in the day-to-day management of our activities, and the support provided by PolyWorks Europa España is undoubtedly the best we have worked with so far.”
Universality
Cachero recalls the company's early days and the beginning of its relationship with PolyWorks: “We were entrepreneurs, and in our early days we had to carefully assess and compare every investment we made. We compared the products we wanted to purchase with everything available on the market to make sure they were really worthwhile and represented the best investment. We therefore purchased a one-month license for PolyWorks|Inspector™ so that we could test it thoroughly, and we loved it. Today, we have two PolyWorks|Inspector™ licenses, which are used 16 hours a day. We can connect them to equipment such as laser trackers and measurement arms, or import raw data from other technologies.”

The concept of universality offered by PolyWorks|Inspector™ goes beyond its ability to connect to different measurement technologies and equipment brands. For Dogram, the versatility of being able to perform dimensional inspections on both very small, highly precise components and highly complex parts measuring up to 50 metres is crucial. “The software can be used for measurement, but there are also systems that do not require it and are, so to speak, independent. In those cases, we directly import the data collected by the equipment into PolyWorks|Inspector™ to perform the analysis and dimensional inspection and generate the reports that we subsequently send to the customer,” explains Abello. Cachero adds: “Sometimes, we combine both approaches within the same PolyWorks|Inspector™ project. For example, when working with large equipment, we may measure certain areas using higher-precision hardware and others, such as the overall envelope, using a different laser scanner, and then import the resulting point clouds. This is possible because the software allows you to align different point clouds obtained from different pieces of equipment.”
For Cachero, PolyWorks|Inspector™ is an extremely versatile software solution.
“We leverage our knowledge and experience in processing point clouds and polygonal meshes, and we get a great deal out of the tool. In fact, when we first purchased the software, we used it mainly for scanning. As we started taking on different and increasingly complex projects, we kept pushing PolyWorks|Inspector™ further, for example, by using it to perform geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) calculations and other operations. Everything we have asked it to do so far, it has delivered. It is a very comprehensive software solution,” she concludes.
A matter of trust
“We greatly value the trust they have placed in us. We have a transparent and exciting relationship. It is a source of pride to see them grow and to know that we have contributed to that growth,” says Arellano.
For her part, Abello highlights not only the software’s technical quality and continuous updates, but also the support received from the PolyWorks Europa España team:
“From a calculation and results standpoint, the software is extremely robust. It is also backed by excellent customer service from professionals with extensive technical expertise. PolyWorks is helping us grow.”
